+ WHO IS THE HOUSE COMPANY?

We are design and build specialists, independently owned and operated since 1989.  We work collaboratively with you to create a personalised, custom-designed home that is unique to your needs and budget. Have a look at some of our award-winning homes here.


 

+ How are you different from other building companies?

A few things set us apart, beginning with our design and build process. One size does not fit all, so we create a unique home for every client without trying to impose a standard set of plans on different needs and lifestyles.

We are experts in working with challenging sites, steep sections, subdivisional work, renovations, eco homes and remove and re-builds. We’d be happy to meet you on site for a complimentary site visit.

Throughout our work together, you’ll have access to our wide range of specialists we have on staff. Rather than outsource or subcontract this expertise, our team is comprised of land and site assessors, designers and architects, council liaisons, master builders and dedicated project managers. When you work with The House Company, you are working with an experienced team of professionals from start to finish

Because we prefer not to outsource or subcontract to others, we can keep costs under control and offer you a Guaranteed Fixed Price Contract – no surprises, no hidden costs.


 

+ WHAT YEAR WERE YOU ESTABLISHED?

We started operating in 1989 and have proudly established ourselves as market leaders in quality home design. Over the years we have continued to refine our systems to consistently provide innovation and value to every client.


 

+ What area do you build in?

We design and build houses from Auckland City to Langs Beach. We’re very familiar with the different geotech features of the land in these areas, and are experienced in building techniques that maximise how a site is used.


 

+ Do you build outside this area?

If you’re interested in building outside of the areas we normally cover, please get in touch and we can discuss some options for you.


 

+ Are you Master Builders?

Yes, The House Company is a member of the Registered Master Builders Association of NZ. This ensures we adhere to the highest industry standards and code of ethics, and provide a 10 Year Master Build Guarantee with each of our new homes.


 

+ What plans do you have available?

We don’t have “standard” plans or templates to choose from in a brochure or book because every home we build is tailored to suit your section, budget, wish list and lifestyle.

We do have a large collection of floor plans that we can start with, as well as an extensive Design & Build library you can use for inspiration. Alternatively, we can also use drawings and plans that you already have.

We design your dream home from scratch at no extra cost.


 

+ Do you have a show home that we can view?

We have a show home at our Warkworth location. Please contact us to make an appointment to visit and we can show you the range of our work, from standard quality specs to full architecturally designed homes.

We also have a head office in Silverdale, north of Auckland, where we can sit down with you and discuss your ideas.


 

+ How much do you charge per square metre?

The cost of your new home will depend on a number of factors, such as the land, home design, level of inclusions and the type of materials you wish to use. Our clients are spending $4000- $7000 per sqm.

Because the cost depends on a number of different variables, it really is tricky to compare costs from one builder to another. Your best option is to come in and see us – or take advantage of our complimentary site visit – and we can work out how to maximise what we can do with a set budget. With all of our projects, we offer you a Guaranteed Fixed Price Contract – no surprises, no hidden costs.


 

+ Do you build on sloping or difficult sites?

Yes, we do. In fact, The House Company is known for building stunning homes on challenging sections. We’d be happy to come out and see you to do a complimentary site visit – just get in touch and we can arrange a time.


 

+ What materials do you use?

We’re experienced in using a range of materials currently available, such as brick and tile, weatherboard, aluminium, plastered exteriors or timber. All our houses are designed to take advantage of the New Zealand climate and make the most of the surrounding scenery on your section. We’ll work closely with you to design and build whatever style you desire. + Are your houses energy efficient?

All of our homes are designed naturally to reach the Homestar equivalent of a 4-star home. Our concepts are designed to incorporate sustainable features which meet the standards of the New Zealand Green Building Council.

Examples of design features that we consider when building include capturing natural sun light to collect and disperse heat, using windows in the appropriate places for natural ventilation, LED lights, efficient water systems, waste management systems, and much more. There is a large number of elements we can incorporate into your design to ensure it is efficient, sustainable, comfortable, dry, safe and liveable.


 

+ How do you work?

The House Company consists of skilled and experienced architects, consultants, designers, engineers, interior decorators, quantity surveyors, project managers and builders – a full team working to meet all your needs when building your new home.

We work collaboratively with you so that you to enjoy every aspect of designing and building your new home. We have a seamless process that we’ve used for years that enables us to create a home that you love at the price you’re comfortable with. We do also know that sometimes things don’t happen in a linear fashion, and that you may have already started the process of designing and building your own home. + How long does it take to build my dream home?

Timeframes depend on a number of factors, such as the house size, materials you wish to use, the complexity of the design, and the features of your section. This can be anywhere between 6 months to 2 years.

Rest assured, though, that once we have an idea of what you want to build, we will be able to provide a schedule from start to finish. You will have a dedicated project manager who you can keep in regular contact with to know exactly how stages are progressing.


 

+ Can you price our own plan?

Absolutely. We frequently price concepts as well as full working drawings for clients that have completed the design process with an independent architect. 


 

 + Do you have any house and land packages?

+ Can you help with purchasing a site?

We’d love to talk to you if you’re considering purchasing land. Our team members are very familiar with the different types of soil and geotech issues found around Auckland and Northland, and are very experienced in assessing what lies below ground before a build.

We specialise in building on challenging sites and dealing with tricky access, so we can look at a section of land and let you know what may be possible for your design and build.  We invite you to take advantage of our complimentary site visit to discuss your options further.
